One of the most comprehensive offerings to help teachers meet the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics that was presented during Connected Educator Month 2013 was Illustrative Mathematics. Illustrative Mathematics provides an excellent set of free online tools, including:
  • A guide to the CCSS for math
  • Math lesson plans aligned to the CCSS
  • Weekly ‘Task Talks’ related to CCSS math learning objectives
As a part of any successful technology implementation plan, PowerUp emphasizes the development of a broad base of professional development opportunities for teachers and staff. Luckily, the growing connected educator community is rich with PD offerings. Better still, these resources can be accessed anytime, anywhere. Part of our mission at PowerUp is to provide to you with the latest and greatest of these offerings. Go ahead and check out Illustrative Mathematics today, or attend one of their weekly Task Talk PD sessions (centered around the CCSS) held every Monday at 7PM Eastern Time. Each of these sessions is advertised on their Facebook, Twitter and Google+ page, where you can find the information to join. Let us know what you think of these online PD tools and comment below!
