Learnist describes itself as a platform for “social learning.” In essence, it is an online community of people who want to learn and/or teach, and who do it by sharing media on the Learnist platform in the form of a Learnist board. Each Learnist board may contain images, video, text, and comments from multiple collaborating partners who are members of Learnist, so the information is vetted and is constantly updated. Membership is free and you can sign up with your Facebook or Twitter account(s), or with your email address.
You can use Learnist on your computer or access it from the Android or iOS app. Learnist organizes itself into categories, one of which is education, and which covers countless topics across grade levels and school positions, and in multiple languages.
This is a great way to expand and diversify your Professional Learning Network (PLN) and participate as a Connected Educator.
Learnist covers categories ranging from science and technology, to business and entertainment, which makes it a great way to introduce blended learning into your classroom, or to differentiate and personalize instruction for your students. You could even have your students create their own Learnist boards, individually, in groups, or as a class/school!
